Draymond Green Went On Brutally Honest Rant About The NBA
Draymond Green has never been one to shy away from letting his true feelings on a subject be heard. That’s why it shouldn’t surprise NBA fans that the Golden State Warriors forward went on a rant for the ages following last night’s win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Cleveland announced a few days ago that it will sit Andre Drummond until it finds a trade partner. As a result, the talented center had to watch Monday night’s game from the sidelines.
While the Cavaliers are obviously trying to make sure that Drummond doesn’t get hurt, Green pointed out a clear double standard in the NBA.
“To watch Andre Drummond, before the game, sit on the sidelines, then go to the back, and to come out in street clothes because a team is going to trade him is bulls**t,” Green said. “Because when James Harden asked for a trade, and essentially dogged it, no one’s going to fight back that James was dogging it his last days in Houston, but he was castrated for wanting to go to a different team.”
Green didn’t appreciate that Harden was put on blast for demanding a trade, meanwhile teams have basically held players hostage in the past until they found a trade offer they liked.
“Everybody destroyed that man. And yet a team can come out and say, ‘Oh, we want to trade a guy,’ and then that guy has to go sit, and if he doesn’t stay professional, then he’s a cancer. And he’s not good in someone’s locker room, and he’s the issue.”
“Everyone wants to say, ‘that young man can’t figure it out.’ But no one wants to say the organization can’t figure it out.”

Green continued, “At some point, as players, we need to be treated with the same respect and have the same rights that the team can have. Because as a player, you’re the worst person in the world when you want a different situation. But a team can say they’re trading you, and that man is to stay in shape and stay professional. If not, his career is on the line. At some point, this league has to protect the players from embarrassment like that.”
Whether you like him or not, Green made some excellent points during his postgame press conference.
This topic won’t be going away anytime soon. In fact, Green’s comments might inspire other players to speak out on this subject.
