What Pros Wear: What Do NFL Defensive Backs Wear? Here’s the Helmets, Cleats and Gloves Worn by NFL Starting DBs in 2021

For the second straight season, we have researched all 704 NFL Starters to get a full picture of the helmets, cleats and gloves worn by NFL football players. While completing this research is a tall task, it provides us with valuable information about what the world’s best football players wear. We have calculated the brand share and even honed in on some of the specific models these pros are wearing. For this article, we’ll be focusing on some of the league’s most athletic defenders, the linebackers.

About the Research: This research focuses on the helmets, cleats and gloves of the 704 NFL Starters. We tracked 352 Offensive Players (32 QB’s, 32 RB’s, 96 WR’s and 160 OL) and 352 Defensive Players (64 DE’s, 49 DT’s, 64 OLB’s, 47 ILB’s and 128 DB’s). NBA insider says Magic may have already cut their NBA Draft choices down to 2 players

The Orlando Magic hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski believes they are considering two players to select.

The 2022 NBA Draft Lottery took place just before Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. After all was said and done, it was the Orlando Magic who walked away with the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft. That means they have their choice of one of the top three prospects — Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren, Duke’s Paolo Banchero and Auburn’s Jabari Smith.

U.S. State Department pushes Russia to see detained basketball star Brittney Griner

The State Department said Tuesday that it still pushing to have regular contact with WNBA star Brittney Griner of the Phoenix Mercury, who has been detained in Russia for nearly three months.

A consular official was able to meet with Griner last week, when her pre-trial detention in Russia was extended for one month. Griner has been detained — wrongfully, U.S. officials have said — since February, after vape cartridges containing oil derived from cannabis were allegedly found in her luggage at an airport in Moscow.

The NBA also weighed in on the matter Tuesday, with Commissioner Adam Silver saying in a televised interview that he is working “side by side” with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert to try and bring Griner home.

AIA looking into 32-team Open state tournaments in basketball

The Arizona Interscholastic Association recently got together with select high school basketball coaches to do some brainstorming and share visions for the new Open Division playoff bracket.

What they came up with for the start of the Open next season for both boys and girls might be the best thing the AIA could have ever created.

A 32-team boy’s bracket, and a 32-team girl’s bracket.

Here’s how they would play out:

• Through the AIA/MaxPreps power-points ratings, take the top eight teams in 6A, top eight in 5A, and top eight in 4A, then take eight more at-large teams, based purely off of power points.

• Format it 1 through 32 and play the first two rounds with No. 32 facing No. 1 and No. 31 vs. No. 2, etc., to open.
