2 Minute Drill: Unvaccinated Sox may cost themselves a lot of money

This is sportscenter 5, 2 minute drill. Hi everybody spring training now officially underway the Red Sox hard at work down in Fort Myers preparing for the upcoming season. They opened the season in the Bronx april 7th against the Yankees, their home opener april 15th at Fenway against the twins. April 25th, the Red Sox traveled to Canada to play a four game series with the blue jays and right now the Canadian government is not letting unvaccinated athletes into their country to compete in games and sports center five first told you and the new C. B. A. Which Major League Baseball and the players association agreed to and signed. It says that unvaccinated players that cannot compete in games in Toronto will not be paid for those games they miss and will not receive service time for those games they miss. It could be a problem, possibly a big problem for the red Sox We know as of last season they were one of only a handful of teams that did not meet the 85% vaccination threshold. The league established, let’s set aside public policy and that debate for a second and your view on the covid vaccine and remember this is not the policy of the United States government, it’s the Canadian government. Let’s look at this through an entirely different prism as a sports debate. The Red Sox are scheduled to play a total of 10 games in Toronto this season and this is a very good chance they could be without some of their best players from that standpoint. Toronto already has some of the best young players in the game today and they’re only gonna get better. They are a team that has gotten better because they improve their pitching staff this year and the American League East is going to be one of the toughest divisions in baseball. The red sox Yankees rays and jay’s all have legit chances of winning it. So 10 games, the sox play in Toronto could really impact. Who wins the division as a red sox fan. Don’t you want your full squad ready to go ready to win when they go north of the border of the red sox players that are not allowed to play in Ontario because they won’t get vaccinated, letting you down. What kind of team mates are those players if they don’t get the shot while the vaccinated red Sox go out and play the jays on their turf. If Canada has not changed their mind on this rule, these unvaccinated red sox may not only cost themselves a lot of money. 6 to 7 figures, they may cost their teammates and their fan base a shot at the playoffs. I’m do Castiglione. That’s the two minute drill
