WATCH: Nick Saban dances with Alabama players in locker room after comeback to win Iron Bowl in overtime

Earlier this week, Alabama head coach Nick Saban took umbrage with Crimson Tide fans who, no longer satisfied with simply winning, bemoan their team for not blowing out their opponents week-in and week-out. While Saban’s rant about “self-absorbed” fans made headlines, lost in his comments about certain fans was how the seven-time national champion supported his players by saying that kind of mentality was not fair to the team.

Saturday, Saban and his players got to reap the rewards of a victory that was far from easy to earn. For most of the Iron Bowl, the Crimson Tide was shut out by Auburn, which led 10-0 at the start of the fourth quarter. But on a 97-yard drive that began with 1:03 left to play, Alabama scored a touchdown to force overtime, in which they prevailed to win by a score of 24-22.

Justin Fields is coming off arguably the best game of his career vs the 49ers.

Justin Fields has started just six games so far in his young career, but he is already leaving a lasting impression on his opponents.

The Chicago Bears may have lost their Week 8 battle against the San Francisco 49ers, 33–22, but there were several positives for the Bears to take from the game, the primary of which was a very promising performance by the rookie QB. Fields notched the first 100+ yard rushing game of his career, running for 103 yards on 10 attempts, and scoring on a dazzling play that went viral in a hurry:

The 22-year-old quarterback also completed 19 of 27 passes for 175 yards, a TD and an interception, although the pick was a pass that should have been caught by Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney:

Damien Harris shares insight on how Nick Saban prepared him for NFL

Damien Harris didn’t have a spectacular performance in Week 1 of the young NFL season, only mustering up 62 yards on 16 carries. He also recorded his first career fumble in his NFL debut.

This past Sunday against the Dolphins, however, he would not make the same mistake. Harris managed to reach the century mark for the first time, of many to come, in his short NFL career, rushing for 100 yards on 23 totes. While he couldn’t find the end zone, the impact he had was apparent in a 17-16 win for the New England Patriots.

In an interview with SportsCenter on ESPN, Harris was asked about how his time at Alabama prepared him for play at the next level, and here is what he had to say:

“100 percent, everybody knows that Coach Belichick and Coach Saban are pretty close, so they run their ships pretty much

Nick Saban’s Success at Producing Consensus All-Americans is Way Beyond Anything College Football Has Seen Before

When it comes to assessing talent on college football teams, two obvious barometers are recruiting rankings and the NFL draft.

One that’s in between the coming and going is being named an All-American, the best at each position for a given season.

As demonstrated once again this week, Alabama stands out in attracting top prospects, and its been dominating at the pro level for a while, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Crimson Tide under Nick Saban has ruled the All-American selections as well.

But the level to which it has done so has been stunning.

For consistency and simplicity purposes, this discussion will be limited to consensus first-season All-American status.

For that, a player must be named first-team by the majority of the services recognized by the NCAA: American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation, The Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America and Sporting News.
