It appears as though Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson is down to two options: Play the 2021 season under the $17.8 million franchise tag or hold out.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears and Robinson “are not expected to reach a long-term extension.”

On Sunday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler predicted during an appearance on SportsCenter that Robinson would play out this season on the tag (h/t Alex Seats of 247Sports.com):

“Talks have been pretty slow. There’s a decent chance he plays this year out on the tag, They’re going to leave the door open for talks in the final days and hours and sort of hope for the best, but there simply has not been much momentum. I’m told Robinson is ready to try to put up big numbers this year and try to smash free agency in 2022. He’s

There is reportedly hope that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers can sign wide receiver Chris Godwin to a long-term contract extension prior to Thursday’s deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign extended deals.

Appearing on Sunday morning’s edition of SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler said there are “no new developments” as it relates to Godwin signing a new deal.

Fowler noted that the hope it will get done derives from Godwin making it clear he wants to be in Tampa over the long haul and chase more championships. Fowler added that the Bucs have shown a willingness to keep the team that won last season’s Super Bowl intact as well.

Per Spotrac, Godwin signed the one-year, $15.983 million franchise tender in March to ensure he will remain with the team in 2021. According to Fowler, signing Godwin to an extension could lower his salary cap hit

The Chicago Bears and wide receiver Allen Robinson reportedly aren’t close to reaching an agreement on a long-term contract prior to Thursday’s deadline for franchise-tagged players.

During an appearance on SportsCenter on Sunday, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler said discussions between the Bears and Robinson have been “pretty slow” and there “has not been much momentum.”

Fowler noted there is a “decent chance” Robinson will play out the 2021 season on the franchise tag with the goal of putting up big numbers so he can “smash” free agency in 2022.

The 27-year-old Robinson is set to enter his fourth season with the Bears, and he is coming off back-to-back campaigns with over 1,100 yards.

After recording 98 catches for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns in 2019, he followed it up with 102 grabs for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns last season as the Bears’ unquestioned top wideout.

Some within the NFL reportedly believe the Green Bay Packers may soon shift their focus from getting quarterback Aaron Rodgers to return to the team to signing wide receiver Davante Adams to a new contract.

Appearing Saturday morning on SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler said some of those he spoke with wondered if the Packers will “pivot” to Adams since a wideout of his caliber could command anywhere from $25 million to $30 million per season.

One source told Fowler they would do “everything possible” to keep Adams long-term regardless of whether Rodgers or Jordan Love is the starting quarterback moving forward.

Adams is set to enter the final year of his contract in 2021, and he is due for a big raise from the $12.25 million in base salary he is scheduled to earn.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported in April that Rodgers informed some
