Gulf Coast girls basketball player Katie Ambrose has been voted the Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week presented by Babcock Ranch for Dec. 13-Jan. 1.
Ambrose had gone viral on SportsCenter after nailing a three-pointer in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational. She also averaged 10.3 points per game as the Sharks went 6-1 during that stretch.
The next poll will be posted Monday, Jan. 10, 2022. Winners receive an Athlete of the Week T-shirt, provided by BSN SPORTS.
Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Collier County’s coaches during the week. Coaches can email scores to [email protected]. The deadline for each night’s results is 10:30 p.m.

Boys Basketball
Hasleem Cine, Golden Gate: Cine may have only scored three points against Largo, but his points were the most important. His trey at the buzzer gave Golden Gate a 58-57 win over Largo in the Holiday Hoopfest.
Girls Basketball
Katie Ambrose, Gulf Coast: Ambrose went viral on SportsCenter after hitting a three-pointer at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational. In the span of Dec. 13-Jan. 1, she averaged 10.3 points per game.
Boys Soccer
Harvey Sarajian, Naples: In two matches against Cypress Lake and Estero, Sarajian tallied five goals and an assist.
Girls Soccer
Elaina Loden, Naples: Loden, a junior, had two goals in two games against Golden Gate and Estero.
