A special hearing in the case against Houston Texans starting quarterback Deshaun Watson is being held on Monday.
Watson, one of the top quarterbacks in the National Football League, has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women.
On Monday, a special hearing in his case is being held.
ABC 13 in Houston had more:
According to Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, the special hearing will decide whether or not the quarterback’s deposition can be delayed until his 22 accusers have been deposed.
Watson has been accused of sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions.
As of Sunday, officials have not finished deposing the plaintiffs.
Watson’s deposition was set for Thursday, but that could now change.
Watson’s NFL future remains very much in limbo.
The Houston Texans star quarterback is expected to be on the trading block, though nothing can probably happen until his legal situation is figured out.
Pittsburgh has been viewed by some as a trade destination, especially following the hiring of Brian Flores. However, that is reportedly unlikely.
“In the offseason and leading up to the trade deadline last year, sort of the worst kept secret was that Deshaun Watson had interest in playing for Brian Flores in Miami, but that ship has sort of sailed as Miami has transitioned to Mike McDaniel and they’re going to stick with Tua Tagovailoa,” ESPN reporter Fowler said Sunday on SportsCenter. “With the Steelers and what they do at quarterback, that’ll be a Mike Tomlin call, a GM Kevin Tolbert call and then the eventual new GM, which should be hired before the draft. They would decide if they go for a player such as Watson and there’s still zero clarity here on his case.
“He was supposed to have a deposition on the case over the sexual assault allegations next week, (but) I’m told that could be postponed. There’s a criminal investigation that’s still not complete at this point. There’s really two windows for trade talk to potentially intensify — you’ve got free agency and then the draft. After that, it’s pretty uncertain.”
The Buccaneers are another possible landing spot for Watson.
Of course, don’t expect a trade to happen until Watson’s legal situation is finalized.
