Stephen A. Smith wants to team up with Magic Johnson on ESPN

These days, what Stephen A. Smith wants at ESPN, Stephen A. gets.

Next up, Magic Johnson.

Smith wants to team up with Johnson, according to sources, possibly on “NBA Countdown,” the pregame show that leads into the NBA Finals and other marquee games.

Smith’s ideal setup would be to have a Big 3 that also includes “Pardon the Interruption” co-host Michael Wilbon, who often works alongside Smith on “SportsCenter.”

Nothing is finalized, so it hasn’t been determined whether the potential show would have a traditional host.

In the wake of Maria Taylor’s and Rachel Nichols’ departures, Jalen Rose, Jay Williams and Adrian Wojnarowski are the “Countdown” incumbents, while Richard Jefferson, Kendrick Perkins and Chiney Ogwumike would figure to be candidates to join the show.

ESPN also has interest in Draymond Green, but, as an active player, the Warriors forward would only be available on occasion.

Kevin Durant and members of Team USA practice before the Olympics.

Kevin Durant got an odd welcome from Team USA at their arrival in Tokyo, and Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is taking credit for leading the prank against his former teammate.

Durant is seen as one of the key players looking to lead the Americans back to gold after a rough start to their Olympic journey, but his teammates were keeping things loose as the team arrived in Tokyo. The group was seen serenading Durant with a very odd song choice, and getting some viral attention for it.

Liz Cambage could be kicked off Aussie Olympic team after reported ‘physical altercation’ in scrimmage [Video]

The Australian Olympic Committee has confirmed that Liz Cambage’s status for the Tokyo Games is in jeopardy following reports of a physical altercation during a recent scrimmage against Nigeria.

AOC chairman Ian Chesterman told reporters on Friday from Tokyo that Basketball Australia was investigating the alleged incident. He said that he didn’t have any more information about what happened.

Report: Cambage had ‘physical altercation, charged verbal exchange’

ESPN’s Olgun Uluc reported on Thursday that Cambage was involved in a “physical altercation” and a “charged verbal exchange” during a closed-door scrimmage against Nigeria in Las Vegas and that Basketball Australia is debating her status for the Olympics. Both teams are in Nevada this week for Olympic training camps and exhibitions against other national teams preparing for Tokyo. It’s not clear who else was involved in the alleged altercation with Cambage.

A closeup of Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson.

Headed into NFL training camp, much remains unclear about the future of Deshaun Watson in the NFL. Amidst his ongoing legal situation and his desire to leave the Houston Texans, the 25-year-old quarterback might not be on the field come Week 1.

At one point, trade rumors containing Watson’s name were everywhere. Any team that wanted an upgrade at quarterback likely thought about going after the multi-time Pro Bowler, despite the Texans expressing their desire to hold onto him.

However, everything flipped when 22 different women accused Watson of sexual misconduct. The Houston Police Department recently confirmed that it’s continuing to conduct a criminal investigation, while a civil suit remains pending.

Even with the situation facing Watson off the field, the star quarterback remains “intrigued” in one team. According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Denver Broncos have kept their eyes
