The Cleveland Cavaliers are this season’s most surprising success story, and Ricky Rubio is a major part of what they’re doing. If he has suffered a serious knee injury, which unfortunately is a real possibility, it would be a major blow to Cleveland, which currently sits as the East’s No. 5 seed with the league’s fourth-best point differential.

In the closing minutes of of Cleveland’s 108-104 loss to the Pelicans on Tuesday, Rubio appeared to slip, and subsequenrtly his left knee gave out when he planted as he was driving through the paint.

He went down in clear pain and grabbed at his knee immediately.

Rubio was helped to the locker room by teammates and was not putting any weight on his knee. He was seen leaving the arena on crutches, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi, who reported that Rubio will have an MRI on Wednesday.

Bill Belichick asked about his New Year’s resolution immediately after Patriots loss to Bills

Bill Belichick isn’t usually in the mood to talk about anything when the Patriots lose. That’s especially true when the topic strays away from football, as one reporter learned on Sunday.

In the aftermath of the Patriots’ 33-21 loss to the Bills in Week 16, an unidentified reporter asked whether Belichick had any New Year’s resolutions that he was willing to share. In typical Belichickian fashion, he was uninterested in answering her query at that time.

NFL COACHING RUMORS: Jaguars plan to interview two former head coaches

Perhaps another coach would have cracked a joke about beating their next opponent, but Belichick likes to keep things to football. That said, he did say that he would consider discussing New Year’s resolutions at another time.

“Maybe next week,” he said.

Lakers star Anthony Davis out at least 1 month with MCL sprain from Timberwolves loss [Video]

Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis will be out for at least a month after suffering an MCL sprain in his left knee, the team said Saturday.

Davis left Friday night’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the third quarter after his knee was rolled up on by Jaden McDaniels — which sent the two to the court while Davis grabbed his leg in pain.

He slowly walked off the court and into the tunnel toward the locker room after standing up, but collapsed in pain in the tunnel.

He finished with nine points and one rebound in 20 minutes in the Lakers’ 110-92 loss at the Target Center.

Davis underwent an MRI in Chicago on Saturday — ahead of the Lakers’ game against the Bulls on Sunday — which revealed the MCL sprain.

With his four-week timeline, Davis will likely miss at least 14 games. The Lakers are set

Anthony Davis leaves Lakers loss early with knee injury

Friday night was a tough one for Anthony Davis.

The Los Angeles Lakers star, after rolling his ankle early in the night at the Target Center, left L.A.’s 110-92 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves early after suffering a left knee contusion.

Then as he walked to the locker room, Davis collapsed in pain in the tunnel.

Anthony Davis leaves early with knee contusion

Davis caught a pass from LeBron James at the top of the key in the third quarter and immediately went to send it back to him.

As Davis made the pass back, Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels stumbled trying to defend James and fell directly into Davis’ left knee — which sent the pair to the court and Davis grabbing his leg.

Davis then walked slowly off the court to the locker room, which is when he fell in the tunnel.

The Lakers ruled Davis out of the
