No. 1 High School Recruit Jalen Duren Announces Commitment

Jalen Duren, a five-star center, announced his commitment on Friday night. It turns out he’s taking his talents to Memphis to join Penny Hardaway‘s program.

Duren was originally slated to be part of the 2022 recruiting class, but he has decided to reclassify so he can play at Memphis this upcoming season.

Miami, Kentucky, the G-League and the NBL in Australia were all considered finalists for Duren. It was Memphis’ ability to develop young talent, however, that made Duren commit to the Tigers.

It also doesn’t hurt that Hardaway was a fantastic NBA player who can relate to talented recruits like Duren.

Former Blue Valley High School standout Aidan Shaw cuts list to KU, MU, four others

The Kansas and Missouri men’s basketball teams have emerged as two of six finalists for Aidan Shaw, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound senior small forward recruit from Link Academy in Branson, Missouri.

Shaw, the No. 51-ranked prospect in the high school basketball recruiting Class of 2022 by 247sports.com and No. 56-ranked player by Rivals.com, on Thursday revealed a list of KU, MU, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Maryland and Arkansas on Twitter.

Shaw, a member of the Mokan Elite AAU program who played two seasons at Blue Valley High School, will visit Arkansas on Aug. 6-8. He has visited each of his other finalists.

At Link Academy, Shaw will be a teammate of major college prospects Bryson Warren, Tarris Reed and Trey Green.

At one time Shaw also had Kansas State, Wichita State, USC, Texas Tech, Creighton, Iowa State, Nebraska, TCU, Texas, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest on his list.

BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) – Monmouth native and Pleasant Valley Girls Track and Field coach Kaz Johnson has been high jumping since middle school. However, the St. Ambrose alum didn’t start sharing his jumping ability on a wider scale until he got some encouragement from one of his athletes.

“I was training here, I want to say it was last Summer with one of my athletes and we just kind of set up a series of circuits using hurdles, and one thing led to another and she showed me some stuff on the internet she’s like ‘yeah look at these guys here’ and she just kind of motivated me to go out there and just try it out,” Johnson said.

KU, Mizzou hoops recruit Aidan Shaw to leave Blue Valley High School for Link Academy

Blue Valley High School standout small forward Aidan Shaw, who recently made official men’s basketball recruiting trips to Kansas and Missouri, will transfer to Link Academy in Branson, Missouri for the 2021-22 school year, he announced Sunday night on Twitter.

Shaw, the No. 44-ranked player in the recruiting Class of 2022 according to 247sports.com and No. 56-ranked player nationally according to Rivals.com, confirmed the news in a direct Twitter message to The Star.

At Link Academy, the 6-foot-8, 190-pound Shaw will be a teammate of major college prospects Bryson Warren, Tarris Reed and Trey Green. KU and MU are recruiting both Warren and Reed. Reed is a 6-8, 220-pound senior center who is moving to Link Academy from Chaminade High School in St. Louis. He is ranked No. 79 in the Class of 2022 by 247sports.com and No. 90 by Rivals.com.
