Paige Beebe’s goal lands No. 1 on SportsCenter’s Top 10

Feb. 12—BEMIDJI — There’s good, and then there’s SportsCenter Top 10 good.

Bemidji State senior Paige Beebe proved to be the latter, as her miraculous game-winning goal on Friday night took the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays for the day.

Beebe scored

the game-winning goal to defeat No. 2 Ohio State with just 0.3 seconds left on the clock

. From her defensive circle, Beebe fired into an empty net on the other side of the ice and sent her team into pandemonium.

The Buckeyes had pulled their goalie with 14 seconds left in pursuit of a regulation win in attempt to maximize their points in the race for the WCHA regular season title.

It almost worked, but BSU goaltender Kerigan Dowhy also produced an incredible, no-look kick save that turned into an assist on Beebe’s goal. Dowhy even received a shoutout during the Top 10 spot

Fayetteville Fury soccer Nate Brady SportsCenter-worthy goal against Memphis Americans

Fayetteville Fury goalkeeper Kenny Perkinson eyes the action during a match against the Memphis Americans on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022.

When Fayetteville Fury goalkeeper Kenneth Perkinson heaved a pass to Nate Brady across midfield during Saturday’s indoor soccer match at the Crown, he didn’t expect to get an assist out of it.

But he wasn’t completely surprised, either.

“Nate loves the spectacular,” Perkinson said of his teammate. “If he has a one-on-one, if he has a volley, he’s going to take it every time.”

Brady caught Perkinson’s toss off the bounce on his right foot and it didn’t hit the field again until it was behind the goal line.

The striker juggled past one defender, then another with a knee bounce, then kicked a laser off the volley that hit the near post and went into the net to give the Fury a 3-1 lead over the previously unbeaten Memphis Americans.

Fayetteville would go on to win Saturday’s game 7-5 and on Sunday, the Fury outlasted the Americans 4-3 in

Powell’s Cooper Dennie, 10, goes viral for trick shot shootout goal at Blue Jackets game

Cooper Dennie awaits his shootout attempt during an intermission at the Blue Jackets' game Monday.

Cooper Dennie woke up Monday morning knowing exactly what he was going to do in his shootout attempt that night. On Tuesday, the 10-year-old woke up and saw himself on SportsCenter.

Dennie electrified the crowd at Nationwide Arena on Monday with a 360-degree spinning lacrosse-style shootout goal — and soon found himself going viral. By Tuesday night, the clip had more than 350,000 views on Twitter and was No. 10 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Monday night.

It’s a move Dennie, who lives in Powell, has been working on in spurts for nearly a year, beginning with practicing just the spin before adding the element of picking the puck up off the ice and then spinning.

“It really came to a head around October when we learned that we were going to do the shootout through the (Columbus) Capitals select team,” said Dennie’s father, Brian. “He had started talking about, ‘What

Oilers’ McDavid dazzles again with absurd goal vs. Jets

Two weeks after his electrifying 1-on-4 goal put the New York Rangers in a coffin, Connor McDavid absolutely barbecued the Winnipeg Jets. (Getty)

Birth. Death. Taxes. Connor McDavid making an absolute mockery of the sport of hockey on a regular basis. These are life’s only guarantees.

It’s been a mere, like, 12 days since McJesus last used his alien skills to obliterate an entire NHL franchise, so naturally it was time for No. 97 to claim a fresh victim with yet another (his third already this season?) goal-of-the-year bid, this time against the Winnipeg Jets, who have felt this dude’s wrath before.

He absolutely rips through the neutral zone unbothered, draws in three white shirts, evades at least four stick-checks while controlling the puck at full speed before putting it top bunk past one of the best goalies on planet earth.

In other words, just another day the office for the pride of York Region:

It’s pretty absurd how absolutely incredible — and similar — McDavid’s tallies versus the Jets and Rangers were,
