Matthew Stafford warms up on the field.

Matthew Stafford’s debut with the Los Angeles Rams was a successful one.

The former Detroit Lions quarterback led his team to a win over his old divisional rival, the Chicago Bears. Stafford and the Rams crushed the Bears, 34-14, to open the season with a nice victory.

Stafford played very well, throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns on 20 of 26 passing in the season-opening win.

Rams head coach Sean McVay was extremely impressed.

The rest of the NFL world was pretty impressed, too. Stafford playing in McVay’s offense with the Rams weapons should be pretty fun to watch moving forward.

It’s only one game, but the Rams have to be very happy with their trade for the former No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick.

Stafford and the Rams’ offense looked like a team capable of making a deep playoff run,

College Football World Reacts To Robert Griffin III’s GameDay Debut

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III throws a pass.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III throws a pass.

ESPN made a savvy signing earlier this month, adding Robert Griffin III to its team for the 2021 football season. On Saturday, he made his debut on College GameDay.

Griffin, a former Heisman Trophy winner, has made several TV appearances in the past. However, there’s something special about College GameDay that separates it from ESPN’s other shows, like Get Up or SportsCenter.

Though it’s extremely early in his broadcasting career, it appears college football fans already like what they’re hearing from Griffin.

“ESPN found them a gem in Robert Griffin III,” Bryce Hayes of SB Nation tweeted. “He’s been good TV every appearance I’ve seen so far.”

“Robert Griffin III is killing this GameDay thing,” one fan wrote. “He’s gonna have a long career in this!”

“Robert Griffin III was made for this job,” another fan said.

Shortly after College

Jared Goff throws a pass in the preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills in August 2021.

Perhaps lost in the hoopla of the Detroit Lions first preseason game on Friday night was the debut of new quarterback Jared Goff with the team.

Very quietly, Goff performed well on the night as the new starter for the Lions, going a cool 7-9 for 56 yards in the game against the Buffalo Bills. That effort left some folks impressed with what Goff can do this season for the team, and that was true of ESPN analyst Marcus Spears.

MLB: AUG 04 Astros at Dodgers

Veteran right-hander Max Scherzer got off to a picture-perfect start in his Dodgers debut Wednesday night.

Scherzer took the mound for Los Angeles for the first time on Wednesday since the Dodgers acquired him from the Nationals last Friday. He was brilliant. The 37-year-old went seven full innings, allowed just five hits and two earned runs and struck out 10 batters against a very good Houston Astros lineup. The Dodgers got a 7-5 win in the process.

The best part of Scherzer’s performance was his success against Jose Altuve, who’s become one of baseball’s biggest villains. He struck out the 31-year-old each of the three times he faced him. Dodgers fans gave Scherzer a well-deserved standing ovation following his impressive performance.

“You live for this,” Scherzer said after the game, via “You live to pitch in front of 50,000 people going
