Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield took a big shot that forced him to leave Sunday’s game versus the Patriots.

After the game, Mayfield was asked if he thinks he’ll be a go for next week’s matchup against the Detroit Lions.

The 26-year-old QB didn’t mince words when asked about his status for Week 11.

“I’ve got to find a way to get as healthy as possible. Pretty beat up right now. We’ll see. Awkward landing.”

One thing that can’t be questioned about the Browns’ fourth year QB is his toughness. Mayfield has battled through a left shoulder separation, torn labrum, tuberosity fracture, and now a knee issue.

The injury bug couldn’t come at a worse time for Baker, who’s been durable throughout his career.

While Nick Chubb and Wyatt Teller have their contracts expiring at the end of the season, Baker Mayfield’s extension is the most important for the Cleveland Browns.

Denzel Ward joins Mayfield, Chubb and Teller as the four big extensions need among the Browns long list of upcoming free agents.

Mayfield’s situation is cluttered by the other quarterbacks in his class also seeking extensions. Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen are in the same boat as the Browns quarterback after being drafted in the first round as well. Mayfield, as the top pick in the 2018 NFL draft, has had to deal with a ton of turnover and instability in Cleveland while Jackson and Allen have been well supported by their organizations since their rookie season.
