Sixers optimistic that Joel Embiid injury is not serious or long term

The Philadelphia 76ers have a lot of hope for their championship run in the 2021 playoffs. They are the No. 1 seed in the East and they have a 3-1 lead over the Washington Wizards in Round 1 of the playoffs.

However, all of their hopes are centered around the play of their best player, superstar Joel Embiid.

The big fella took a hard fall in the team’s Game 4 loss to the Wizards and he had to leave the game with what the team is calling right knee soreness. With the series now shifting back to Philadelphia, Embiid is now listed as doubtful for Game 5 on Wednesday.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski did offer some encouraging news for Sixers fans as there is hope and optimism around him that the injury is not too serious or long-term.

Woj hopped on Sportscenter and reported this:

I’m told, largely, there’s optimism around the knee that this is not a serious injury. This is not necessarily something that’s gonna keep him out, but there’s more testing that’s going to be done. They certainly want to be sure whenever they’re dealing with Joel Embiid and a player certainly of his stature.

As reported before, the Sixers will further evaluate the MVP candidate before tip off on Wednesday, and the team will have to hope that he won’t miss too much time. He is the engine that drives this team’s championship hopes and without him, they are a mostly average team. They went 10-11 in the 21 games he missed in the regular season.
