Sennheiser is probably one of the best-known names in headphone and earbud technology and has a reputation for producing some excellent products that find favor with audiophiles as well as everyday consumers.
The company’s latest product to launch is a brand-new pair of sporting earbuds designed for people with an active lifestyle. The Sennheiser Sport True Wireless claims to offer superior audio performance for fitness enthusiasts and athletes, no matter how vigorously they exercise.
Featuring a unique Adaptable Acoustic feature, the Sport True Wireless model offers a choice of open and closed ear adapters, enabling athletes to tailor their listening experience to their sport. And thanks to a secure and customizable fit, the Sport True Wireless can handle the most active of challenges.
The Sport True Wireless earbuds use Sennheiser’s TrueResponse transducer. That’s the same dynamic driver that’s used in Sennheiser’s flagship IE900 wired earbuds. The 7mm drivers are designed and engineered in Germany. They have a wonderfully fulsome bass and superior clarity in the mids and trebles, without distortion, even at high volume levels.
Thanks to the Adaptable Acoustic feature, the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless puts athletes in control of how they experience external sounds and perceive their surroundings. The user can choose between open or closed ear adapters to allow sounds to reach the listener’s ear. There’s also a customizable EQ setting for individual sound profiles.
The open ear adapters in combination with the Aware EQ settings help reduce body-borne noise and enable some external sounds to enter the listener’s ears so the user can be more aware of their surroundings. For example, runners can choose to hear fewer distracting noises such as their heartbeat or footsteps and more of their surroundings, blending their favorite exercise playlist with sounds of nature or the city to improve awareness. Those who prefer to listen to their own music in noisy gyms, and who don’t want to be distracted by the busy environment, may prefer to use the closed-ear adapter and Focus EQ settings.
In addition to the Sennheiser Smart Control app’s Focus and Aware EQ settings, athletes can make fully customizable presets using the Sound Check feature. Touch controls on each earbud enable the user to personalize the sound of the earbuds to suit their preferences and give access to audio navigation and voice assistants.
The earbuds use the latest Bluetooth 5.2 wireless technology and there’s onboard support for audio codecs like SBC, AAC and aptX to make it easy to stay connected to mobile devices, smartwatches and smart TVs, as well as connected fitness devices.
Sennheiser says that the ergonomic design of the Sport True Wireless was developed to feel as comfortable as possible when exercising. The earbuds can be further customized with a choice of ear tips in three sizes and there are four different ear fins to choose from. With an IP54 rating, the earbuds are dust and splash-resistant and can withstand sweat, a jog in the rain, or a workout at the beach. The Sport True Wireless have a battery life of 9 hours on a single charge, plus there are another 18 hours of backup juice in the earbuds’ charging case.
