Pipeline, KCB, Kenya Prison shine at KVF league in Mosoriot – DAILY SPORT

Reigning African Club champions KCB defeated Kenya Prisons at the 5th leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) League at the Koitaleel University College in Mosoriot, Nandi County.

The bankers defeated champions Kenya Prisons in a five setter thriller in 25-17, 20-25, 22-25, 25017 and 15-11.

The bankers coach Japheth Munala said beating the champions was not an easy work in the final rounds.

“It was a great honour to beat our nemesis in the last round and we wait for more come at the play-offs,” said Munala.

In other women matches Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and Kenya Army recorded maximum points without playing after Naiorbi prisons and Vihiga County failed to show up.

Leaders Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) defeated Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in straight sets of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19 to maintain their top position ahead of play-offs.

KPC head coach Paul Gitau said that training in Eldoret for the last one week has paid off after winning Eldoret City open tournament last weekend.

“This region is on a high altitude and for us to camp here, it has paid off but newcomers are struggling. This area has low oxygen and the girls have adopted to this and giving as good results,” said Gitau.

He said that if they will not go to the play-offs they are on top of the table and will be champions of the season as they prepare for the new season.

“As leaders we are in good position and if we go to the play-offs, we area to win because we shall play against teams that we have played all through,” added Gitau.

In men encounter, former champions Kenya Prison recorded an easy win against Administration Police (A.P) in straight sets of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-20 while KDF were 3-1 win over Equity in 25-20, 21-25, 33-35, and 16-25.

In another match, Trail Blazers were 3-0 win over Nyanza Prison in 25-12, 25-19 and 25—14.
