LAS CRUCES – Nate Pryor’s wild, spinning lay-up at the buzzer to give New Mexico State a 78-76 overtime win over rival New Mexico was one of the best plays of the day Monday.

In fact, it was the fourth-best play of the day, according to Monday night’s SportsCenter, which ranks the Top 10 plays nightly.

In addition to multiple angles of Pryor’s prayer, the clip also shows Head Coach Chris Jans celebrating the victory with his players in the locker room following the game.

The win boosted NMSU to 7-2 on the season, including 3-1 against rivals UNM and Texas-El Paso. In Friday’s game against UTEP, Aggie Jabari Rice hit a 3 with seconds to go to give NMSU a 72-69 win.

It’s been quite the week for Aggie athletics, which last week announced the hiring of Jerry Kill to coach the football team.

The SportsCenter commentator, talking over video of the NMSU-UNM game highlights, says in the Top 10 clip, “There you go (NMSU Athletics Director) Mario Moccia. You got Jerry Kill, new football coach and they got momentum from the basketball team. They are enjoying the victory.”

The ESPN show, however, incorrectly attributed the video showing Pryor’s winning shot from the sidelines to @betthehoops on Twitter. In fact, that video was taken and shared to social media by Sun-News sports reporter Stephen Wagner, @StephenWag22 on Twitter.
