Making the case for the Patriots
2 Minute Drill: Making the case for the Patriots
Is sportscenter 5 2 minute drill early in the season. If the patriots were on trial, they would have been found guilty of being not very good. But the patriots slowly built their case. We heard testimony from the Jets who helplessly watched the patriots put up 54 points against them. Then the Patriots broke into the homes of the chargers and panthers and took their dignity and stole their pride. Then it was the browns who didn’t acquit themselves at all. And by the time the patriots took the fifth, winning their fifth in a row against the falcons, all the admissible evidence pointed to a verdict that the patriots weren’t just a good team, they were contenders and at the patriots still stood accused of being anything less than among the best in the A. F. C. They removed all reasonable doubt by crushing the Tennessee titans because before the defense rested the patriots defense when eight quarters and 20 consecutive possessions without allowing a single point. That is the closing argument in the season long trial by fire leaving us with the irrefutable evidence that the patriots are not guilty of being overhyped frauds. A jury of their peers in the court of public opinion will ultimately pass judgment and yes double jeopardy still await two games with the Buffalo Bills. But regardless of the outcomes of those games, the patriots have already proven their case exhibit a A five and a record on the road, exhibit B A six game winning streak and exhibit C a defense That has given up just 26 points total in the last four games. Now, that’s a defense that can really bail you out. Of course, all of this is just hearsay during the regular season and some of this is an indictment of the NFL and its lack of a truly great team. But there’s no law that says the Patriots can’t rise to the top of a mediocre league. They are still liable to overrule the objections of their opponents and their fans because continued patriots success will certainly warrant further jealousy from teams wondering if there’s a statute or if the patriots have any limitations. The patriots certainly don’t need me to be their public defender, but still, that concludes my oral argument. Oh!
