Isaac Traudt’s dunk makes Sportscenter Top 10

Isaac Traudt left his mark over the last few days

The Virginia basketball signee’s emphatic dunk has certainly made waves over social media.

Traudt had 24 points, 12 rebounds, three assists in his Grand Island’s 53-41 loss to St. Louis Vashon on Friday afternoon. His dunk even made it to Sportcenter’s Top ten plays at No. 5 later that night.

On Saturday, Traudt followed up with another highlight-filled performance after recording 30 points on his way to being named the MVP of the game. With his 30 points, Traudt is the new All-Time leading scorer in Islander Basketball history – amassing 1147 and counting.

The Top 50 power forward was Tony Bennett’s third recruit in the class of 2022.

“There’s a lot of reasons but it came down to my relationship with coach Bennett and the staff,” ” he said when he committed to the Cavaliers. “I feel really good about their culture and believe I fit in really well. Playstyle wise, on and off the court it feels like a really good fit, and the last thing is my relationship with Isaac McKneely and Leon Bond. That was another important factor for me.”

“Coach Bennett recruits off the five pillars, humility, unity, servanthood, passion, and thankfulness. I feel like when you recruit to those pillars you’re going to get really good guys and the culture is always going to be really good.”

According to National Basketball director at 247Sports Eric Bossi, Traudt and the other UVA hoops signees could be a memorable group.

“By the time this group is finished in Charlottesville they have the potential to go down as one of the more memorable classes that Tony Bennett has or will sign at Virginia,” said Bossi. “Traudt is a tough and skilled faceup four man from Nebraska who looks like a perfect fit for the Cavaliers. McKneely is a tough, shot making guard that can play either the point or shooting guard position. Bond isn’t as well known nationally, but he’s an athletic, high energy wing who defends at a high level and really makes things happen when attacking the rim. Dunn is a late blooming wing with size who can stroke it from deep.”
