ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt picks Louisiana vs. Texas Longhorns football
During Thursday night’s “SportsCenter,” ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt did a “Winner$” segment focused on college football.
One of the games he picked is the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, ranked No. 23 in the USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, against the No. 19-ranked Texas Longhorns. The teams are scheduled to meet at 3:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Austin, Texas.
Texas is coming off a 2020 season that the Longhorns went 7-3 overall. The UL Ragin’ Cajuns finished the 2020 season at 10-1 overall.
As of Friday morning, the Texas Longhorns are a 9.5-point favorite against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, according to Tipico Sportsbook.

ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt picks the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to cover the spread against the Texas Longhorns.
“Louisiana is plenty capable,” Van Pelt said. “They’re ranked. A lot of pressure on the Longhorns to start fast, and their opponents can make that a chore. I’m backing the fellas from the Sun Belt in Austin.”
Texas was a 9-point favorite based on where Van Pelt got his betting line for the game.
Van Pelt picked five college football games, and he picked the underdog to cover in all five games. The other four underdogs that Van Pelt went with this week are Virginia Tech, Penn State, UTSA, and Florida State.
