Dutch Grand Prix Remains On F1 Calendar Until 2025 – Sport Grill
Circuit Zandvoort has agreed a new deal to keep Dutch Grand Prix on F1 calendar until end of 2025 season.
Zandvoort returned to F1 calendar in 2021 following the emergence of a new Dutch following in the wake of Max Verstappen’s rise in preceding years, with Verstappen having won his home race in each of last two seasons – including last season en route to his controversial maiden title.
The current deal was set to run out at end of next season but Zandvoort has negotiated a new contract to add two further races across 2024 & 2025 seasons onto the calendar, in-turn extending the contract until the end of 2025.
“The Dutch Grand Prix has quickly established itself on the calendar as a fan favourite, bringing incredible energy and a great fan experience every year,” commented Stefano Domenicali, President & CEO of Formula 1.
Domenicali also noted that the success of the Dutch GP in the last two seasons have set new standards in “organisation, entertainment, and sustainability,” which has left F1 “delighted” to agree a new contract amidst “huge demand” around the world to host races.
Sporting Director of Dutch GP, Jan Lammers added that with F2 also returning as part of the support race package, Zandvoort promises to host “the ultimate race festival.”
Lammers though echoed Domenicali’s comment about the demand to host a F1 race as he described being part of a race calendar alongside Las Vegas, Monaco and Sao Paulo amongst other races as “unique”.
On what fans can expect from the Dutch GP in next three seasons, Lammers said: “We need and want to put on the F1 event of the future, which is not necessarily bigger but better, more engaging, more innovative, more sustainable, and more inclusive.”
F1 will return to Zandvoort on weekend of 25-27 August 2023 with the Dutch GP now serving as the first race after the summer break, following the decision to move Belgian Grand Prix to 28-30 July.
Next season will see two Dutch drivers on the F1 grid following Nyck De Vries’ move to AlphaTauri from Formula E.
