Justin Champagnie makes SportsCenter Top 10 with lefty dunk over Leaky Black

Pitt small forward Justin Champagnie put on another standout performance on Tuesday night, as he racked up 23 points and 10 boards against North Carolina. Unfortunately, his efforts were not enough to earn the Panthers a win, as they fell to the Tar Heels 75-65. But the work of Champagnie did not go unnoticed, and one of his best plays of the night was featured on the SportsCenter Top 10 on ESPN.

Strawbridge makes SportsCenter, earns SWAC award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WREX) — Former Rockford Lutheran star Kenny Strawbridge is off to a fast start at Alabama State. Monday night, Strawbridge landed on SportsCenter’s Top Plays when he corralled a blocked shot and hit a reverse layup at the buzzer to propel the Hornets to victory.

“Yeah, it was definitely crazy seeing I was on SportsCenter,” Strawbridge said. “I was talking to my mom last night and she was like, ‘What if you made it on SportsCenter?’ I was like that would be crazy. Ten minutes later one of the coaches sent it to the group chat that the last play made it to SportsCenter. I turned on the TV, waited for it to come on. It’s crazy going on ESPN and they’re saying my name and stuff like that.”

Winter sports season opens with bowling at Sport Center – Sports – Monroe News – Monroe, Michigan

ESPN will honor Kobe Bryant with a SportsCenter Special on Sunday

Tuesday, Jan. 26, will mark the one-year anniversary of the helicopter crash in Calabasas that killed nine people, including Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. On Sunday, ESPN will dedicate a block of its programming to honoring Bryant, headlined by a one-hour primetime special titled “Kobe – The Legend, The Legacy.”

The SportsCenter Special will features interviews from Pau Gasol, who won two championships with Bryant in Los Angeles; Jerry West, who mentored Bryant in his early years with the Lakers; and WNBA Stars Sue Bird, Geno Auriema, Sabrina Ionescu and Chiney Ogwumike. It will also include narrated features from Los Angeles Sparks legend Lisa Leslie, rapper and longtime Lakers fan Snoop Dogg, and Stephen A. Smith.
