2021 Cadillac XT6 Arrives With New, Cheaper Luxury Trim

It’s now the entry-level offering.

When the 2021 Cadillac XT6 goes on sale this fall, the crossover’s second model year, it’ll arrive with a new trim called Luxury. It slots below the Premium Luxury and Sport trims Cadillac offered on the 2020 model. It’s cheaper than the other two, too, starting at $48,990 without the destination charge. The lower cost puts the XT6 in a price range that covers 20 percent of the midsize luxury SUV segment.

Cadillac sets the Luxury trim apart with bright exterior trim paired with aluminum interior trim. Power will come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 237 horsepower (177 kilowatts) that pairs with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. John Degenkolb (Lotto Soudal) and Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quickstep) will headline the start list for the GP Vermarc Sport, the first kermesse of the post-COVID19 racing season with professional teams.

Mathieu van der Poel is not on the start list, but his Alpecin-Fenix teammates Tim Merlier, the current Belgian champion, and German sprinter Alexander Krieger are among the 169 starters, as is Victor Campenaerts, racing as an independent.

The race is set for Sunday in the Flemish Brabant town of Rotselaar, home to the clothing manufacturer that supplies Lotto Soudal and Deceuninck-Quickstep.

The organisers plan for no spectators at the start and finish, with a neutral roll out of 4km followed by ten laps of the 15.4km circuit plus 6km for a total of 164km.

Bugatti Divo, Pur Sport Spied Getting Hard Nurburgring Workout

That’s $10 million worth of hypercars Bugatti is hurling around the track.

What is Bugatti doing at the Nürburgring? Admittedly, the Chiron Pur Sport and Divo are both designed to be track-taming hypercars, but deliveries for the ultra-rare models are slated to begin later this year. Could Bugatti still be dialing in performance, or might this be a prelude to a Nordschleife record attempt?

Two YouTube videos from Automotive Mike capture the hypercars in action, tackling various portions of the Green Hell. Tire scrub is minimal save for a few dicey moments in the Pur Sport, but there’s certainly no mistaking the deep, demonic bellow of the 1,500-horsepower W16 engine, shoving the cars forward with all the aggressive thrust four turbochargers can offer. The cars are certainly being tested aggressively to say the least.
