UNC football announces home game designations for 2022 season

The UNC football Spring game is still a week away but Mack Brown and his staff are hoping that this 2022 season goes better than last year did.

After entering the year as the No. 10-ranked team in the preseason polls, UNC finished the year below .500 and suffered an embarrassing loss in the their bowl game. But before we get to this upcoming season, the program has released some game designations for the Fall.

Via the program, here are the special game designations for this year:

2022 Home Game Designations
Oct. 1 vs. Virginia Tech: Family Football Experience; Cancer Awareness; Health Care Worker Appreciation
Oct. 29 vs. Pittsburgh: Homecoming; Monogram Day
Nov. 19 vs. Georgia Tech: Military Appreciation Day
Nov. 25 vs. NC State: Senior Day / Rams Club Day

The Tar Heels’ home opener will take place on Saturday, August 27th when they host Florida A&M in

Notes and Observations from Oregon Ducks Football Spring Practice March 31, 2022

The media got its first look at 11-on-11 at Oregon practice in Eugene Thursday.

For the first time since at least 2019, the media was able to watch an 11-on-11 segment of practice. In what simulated what looked to be a two minute drill, redshirt-freshman quarterback Ty Thompson took reps with the first-team offense.

Thompson’s best pass was down the right sideline to wide receiver Seven McGee for a long completion. Then, a few plays later Thompson’s pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage by Jackson Powers-Johnson, who’s working along the defensive line this spring, and was intercepted by the outstretched hand of cornerback Bryan Addison. He had what may have been the highlight of the day with his one-handed snag and returned it for what would have been a touchdown in real game situation.

Former Bearcats Football and Basketball Player Brent Petrus Dies

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats athletic community is mourning the loss of Brent Petrus this week. Petrus, 46, passed away on Sunday after a bout with epilepsy.

He was a scholarship player on the football team and appeared in 31 games for the 1997-98 basketball squad led by Bob Huggins. He averaged 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

In football, Petrus played quarterback for three years and tight end during his senior season. He ended his career 20-of-41 passing for 302 yards and four touchdowns.

Petrus touched many parts of the two most prominent athletic programs at Cincinnati.
