Vandy’s Jack Leiter follows no-no with 7 more hitless innings in win vs. Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Jack Leiter is making a habit of being stingy on the mound and spotless on the scoreboard.

The Vanderbilt sophomore right-hander tossed seven hitless innings in the Commodores’ 11-3 victory over Missouri on Friday night — after pitching a nine-inning no-hitter last Saturday against South Carolina.

The scary part? Leiter said he didn’t even think he had his “A” material in his past two starts.

“Today I didn’t have all my pitches right where I like them to be, and I think that’s encouraging for me,” he said on SportsCenter on Friday night. “There’s always stuff to work on, and that’s the fun part about pitching.”

Morgan County soccer: Jacob Martin featured on SportsCenter

Morgan County’s Jacob Martin had a goal featured on SportsCenter as a top play of the week. All right after a round of chemotherapy.

MORGAN COUNTY, Ga. — The Morgan County high school soccer team was featured on SportsCenter this past week, thanks to a goal scored by Jacob Martin. That eccentric teenager that you saw on national television has had quite the journey these last six months.

It was the goal heard around the country: Morgan County defender Jacob Martin scored his first goal of the season, a game clincher featured on SportsCenter.

“My Mom called me too and said I was on SportsCenter and I thought oh my gosh, that’s literally insane,” junior Jacob Martin recalled.

He scored that goal after his 11th round of chemotherapy.

Jemele Hill, Mike Schur Join as Advisers to John Skipper and Dan Le Batard’s Sports-Focused Meadowlark Media

Jemele Hill and Mike Schur have thrown in with Meadowlark Media, the content studio startup focused on sports creators headed by former ESPN boss John Skipper and ex-ESPN host Dan Le Batard.

Earlier this month Skipper exited his post as executive chairman of sports-streaming company DAZN to focus on Meadowlark Media, which he launched in January with Le Batard. Hill in 2018 left ESPN, where she had cohosted an edition of “SportsCenter,” and is now a contributing writer at The Atlantic. Schur is creator of sitcom “The Good Place” and co-created “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Parks and Recreation” after serving as a writer and producer on “The Office.”

In their advisory roles, Hill and Schur will “participate in idea generation for new Meadowlark projects,” as well as provide guidance and feedback on in-progress projects, according to the company. They’ll also assist in business development efforts on an ongoing basis.
